Conference Center

Conferences & Meetings

Having historically been a hub for meetings, discussions and socialising, Monte Verità boasts years of experience in running seminars and medium-sized residential conferences (up to 120 guests). Since 1989, it has housed the center "Congressi Stefano Franscini" (ETH Zurich), which in turn draws thousands of top researchers from all over the world to Monte Verità every year.

The Monte Verità conference centre has a campus-like structure, comprising a hotel, conference halls, restaurant and park. All of this is imbued with the fascinating legacy of a significant chapter in European 20th century cultural history, that of the Monte Verità vegetarian colony.

Auditorium

The Auditorium seats 120 people with comfortable chairs and tables and is fitted with the latest audiovisual and simultaneous translation equipment. The ideal place for holding and attending conferences, the Auditorium is a comfortable modern amphitheatre in which every participant becomes a protagonist and in which there is direct contact between the speakers and the audience.

Designed in 1992 by the architect Livio Vacchini from Ascona, it is located in the heart of the Centre and is part of the architectural heritage of Monte Verità.

Pioda room

The Pioda Room is ideal for seminars and meetings of up to 20 people. Participants may gather round the cosy, intimate fireplace which dominates the room. This room is named after the politician, writer and philosopher Alfredo Pioda from Locarno, the moral driving force in the adventurous history of Monte Verità. Alfredo Pioda owned the land on which the Monte Verità Centre stands today. He had originally planned to set up a theosophically inspired secular convent. The project fell through, but it prepared the ground for the arrival of the first vegetarian settlers.
